I would like to see American reinstate the nonstop to Lima, Peru that it discontinued a few years ago due to Love Field expansion. Love Field service is history, but the Lima flight remains gone. Now travelers need to connect through Miami which is a nightmare, The MIA-LIM flights are on A300's, THE most uncomfortable passenger aircraft around. 260 people crammed into a space that should only hold 200.
Yeah I would imagine that it wouldn't be too difficult to fill an airplane flying betweeen DFW and Lima. The Dallas/Fort Worth metro area has over 6 million people and is growing at a good clip, and all of the legacy carriers are really focusing on international growth. They could use a 752, maybe a 763. What aircraft did AA use on this route before?
Good luck. AA has cancelled more international service out of DFW than it has announced over the last several years. (Lima, Zurich, Osaka, the Beijing disaster, etc). For some reason, AA does not want to grow DFW internationally, choosing to focus all international growth on Chicago and JFK. Even with a new beautiful billion dollar international terminal and large incentives offered by DFW for new international routes, AA is not playing ball. DFW is taken for granted by AA, yet other carriers are afraid of the market because of AA's aggressiveness at defending its DFW stranglehold. So don't hold your breathe for LIMA or any other new international service expansions until AA decides that DFW is worth its efforts. And for what it's worth, I am an AAdvantage Platinum member with over 1,800,000 miles to date. AA used to support this town, but things have changed dramatically for the worst over the last few years.
Might want to try flying in a Cessna. It's fun.
